NY Public Library 53rd Street

Environmental Graphics, Wayfinding - 2016

In 2016, the New York Public Library opened its 53rd Street branch, by TEN Arquitectos. 

I worked with 2x4 to help create the building's visual identity to welcome visitors from the street and play with the relationship between the library and its neighboring buildings.

A giant logo wall, painted on a perforated metal wall, greets visitors upon entry, and the system of wayfinding signage contrasts

 

two-dimensional, screen printed text with extruded block type. Downstairs, a playful supergraphic in the children's room depicts a New York skyline built out of letters.
