The Design of the US Dollar

I recently listened to a podcast episode of 99% Invisible, by Roman Mars, about the design of American money; why its green, why all the bills are the same size, and how we can improve all of these flaws of our antiquated currency.

Of all global currencies, one would think that the US dollar would be the most innovative and practical of all but that proves untrue once Mars sheds light on the fact that they are all the same size and color, rendering them especially useless for the blind population. Mars interviews Richard Smith, the founder of the Dollar Redesign Project, who points out the dollar can be improved by redesigning the color, size, functionality, composition, and symbolism of our currency.

Below is my favorite submission for the competition. How amazing would it be if our money looked like this? Beautiful fonts, fantastic graphics, iconic moments, places and people in history, and most importantly of all, extremely functional.
